42.0

Comments

42A couple of weeks back, Adwaita helped me kickstart a new section on Workosaur called 42.0. The section will carry articles that enlighten – each article being a collection of 42 pieces. For example, the first article under this section is a collection of 42 quotes by Steve Jobs. Read these quotes and you’d agree there couldn’t have been a better way to start to this section.

(The name is inspired by Douglas Adams’ book The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, in which the number 42 is The Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything, as calculated by an enormous supercomputer over a period of 7.5 million years.)

Update (April 30, 2009): Wow! Within a few hours of making this post, Kaustubh Mishra (CEO of The White Collar Company) has sent in a compilation of 42 management quotes from bikers. We’ve put it up on the site and you can see it here.

Where do you stand?

Comments

After months of research, data collation and number crunching, I have finally put together a first-of-its-kind Annual Salary Survey Report (2008-09) for Senior Professionals in India. The survey was conducted with the objective of providing senior professionals with data to benchmark their salary against prevailing industry standards within their functional area. Do download the report and circulate amongst your professional network.

City / Location URLs on Workosaur

Comments

In the sidebar on the Workosaur homepage, you’ll now see a section titled “Jobs in” with links that take you to jobs in a particular location. The URLs read http://www.workosaur.com/jobs-in/cityname/.

Only the most popular locations have been listed i.e.
Bangalore – http://www.workosaur.com/jobs-in/bangalore/
Chennai – http://www.workosaur.com/jobs-in/chennai/
Delhi / NCR – http://www.workosaur.com/jobs-in/delhi-ncr/
Hyderabad – http://www.workosaur.com/jobs-in/hyderabad/
Kolkata – http://www.workosaur.com/jobs-in/kolkata/
Mumbai – http://www.workosaur.com/jobs-in/mumbai/
Pune – http://www.workosaur.com/jobs-in/pune/
United States – http://www.workosaur.com/jobs-in/united-states/

However, you can check job openings for any of these other locations by typing in a corresponding URL:
In India: Aurangabad, Baroda, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Cochin, Coimbatore, Indore, Jaipur, Lucknow, Madurai, Mangalore, Mysore, Nagpur, Surat, Trivandrum, Vizag
Abroad: Africa, Australia, Canada, China, Europe, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Middle East, Singapore, South America, United Kingdom

The location pages will not include jobs from the location in cases where the recruiter has chosen the job location as “Others” and then mentioned one of the above locations in the Others field.

PS: Cheers to Santosh from Neev Tech for suggesting this feature a couple of months ago.

Update: Adwaita from Inbox of Ideas has pointed out that the list of locations on the sidebar would cause some users to assume that Workosaur aggregated openings from those locations only. So, I’ve added a page with the complete list of locations and added a link to this on the homepage sidebar.
