City / Location URLs on Workosaur
In the sidebar on the Workosaur homepage, you’ll now see a section titled “Jobs in” with links that take you to jobs in a particular location. The URLs read http://www.workosaur.com/jobs-in/cityname/.
Only the most popular locations have been listed i.e.
Bangalore – http://www.workosaur.com/jobs-in/bangalore/
Chennai – http://www.workosaur.com/jobs-in/chennai/
Delhi / NCR – http://www.workosaur.com/jobs-in/delhi-ncr/
Hyderabad – http://www.workosaur.com/jobs-in/hyderabad/
Kolkata – http://www.workosaur.com/jobs-in/kolkata/
Mumbai – http://www.workosaur.com/jobs-in/mumbai/
Pune – http://www.workosaur.com/jobs-in/pune/
United States – http://www.workosaur.com/jobs-in/united-states/
However, you can check job openings for any of these other locations by typing in a corresponding URL:
In India: Aurangabad, Baroda, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Cochin, Coimbatore, Indore, Jaipur, Lucknow, Madurai, Mangalore, Mysore, Nagpur, Surat, Trivandrum, Vizag
Abroad: Africa, Australia, Canada, China, Europe, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Middle East, Singapore, South America, United Kingdom
The location pages will not include jobs from the location in cases where the recruiter has chosen the job location as “Others” and then mentioned one of the above locations in the Others field.
PS: Cheers to Santosh from Neev Tech for suggesting this feature a couple of months ago.
Update: Adwaita from Inbox of Ideas has pointed out that the list of locations on the sidebar would cause some users to assume that Workosaur aggregated openings from those locations only. So, I’ve added a page with the complete list of locations and added a link to this on the homepage sidebar.
Fanbook on Facebook
I would like to invite you to visit the all new Facebook page for Workosaur.com. If you do decide to pay it a visit, then ‘become a fan’ and you would then receive all announcements about Workosaur on your Facebook news feed. Also, I am going to make a conscious effort to put in some interesting information about the site on this page. To start with, do check the Photos section to see the different logos that were considered before finalizing on the current one.
Note for Marketeers:
The Official Facebook Pages Product Guide indicates that Facebook is soon going to enable several Apps for Pages. That will surely allow businesses to add more firepower to their Facebook page. It’s time for marketeers to start treating Facebook with more seriousness.
Which of these Internet tools do you use?
After speaking to a few friends who weren’t in the Internet space, I figured that they were unaware of the plethora of tools that were available online which they could use at their workplace. So, I’ve put together a list titled Internet tools for the workplace. This list shall be updated regularly as and when I find something of use. Updates shall also be posted on this blog.
Follow Workosaur.com’s Journey on Twitter
Right from the day Workosaur.com launched, we’ve allowed visitors to be alerted about relevant openings via Twitter. I am now taking the Workosaur blog on to Twitter as well. Followers would be updated about the day-to-day developments on Workosaur.com and are also encouraged to chip in with their inputs.
Coffee with the CEO
Inspired by Karan Johar’s Koffee with Karan, I’ve created a section called Coffee with the CEO. Through coffee-table conversations with CEOs and thought leaders from the Indian industry, my attempt is to uncover their ascent of the corporate ladder, their most memorable milestones, and lessons that they’ve learnt on the way. (Yep, a lot can happen over coffee.)
So if you know a CEO, introduce me to him/her. I’d love to have a discussion and put it up on the site. You could contact by sending a mail to nimish [at] workosaur [dot] com or by calling me on +91.9769290870. I guarantee you that I shall follow up.
The Ultimate Guide to Quitting your Job
I decided to use some of the stuff I had put up on resignr and put together The Ultimate Guide to Quitting your Job on Workosaur.com. While you may not fancy quitting your job voluntarily during these times, do bookmark this section for future perusal.
Also, while we are on the subject of quitting, do read this mint-fresh post by Anantha.
How to laugh off the recession
In case you haven’t checked out this hilarious presentation that has been doing the rounds of everyone’s inbox, watch it right here. Also, I’d recommend you to watch it in full-screen mode as the font on some of the slides is quite small.
PS: A big thanks to Anantha from Orchard for putting this together.
The Workosaur Forum Section has been closed
When I launced Workosaur.com, I had introduced a Forum section at forum.workosaur.com hoping that it would have several interesting career-related discussion threads. I seeded it with lot of content initially hoping that visitors would drop by and have a look and carry forward the discussions. A link to the Forum was prominently displayed on the homepage. But neither did too many people click through this link and neither were there any meaningful discussions. So I’ve decided to do away with it and deleted that section. A dead rat can stink up the entire house if not disposed off. Similarly, an inactive forum/community section gives the impression that the site isn’t functioning.
For those of you who had contributed any content and would like to retrieve it, do let me know. I have a backup and could mail across your content.
We’re now your Fashion Consultant for Power Dressing
Despite having a mother who runs a sizeable fashion boutique/workshop, I haven’t been blessed with a great dress sense. And so I decided to put my head down and compile a section titled Dress for Success for others like me. I’ve pretty much covered everything about corporate dressing including a special section for women. Researching that bit was the most fun. I hope you find all of it equally useful.
